Some Liverpool fans have been reacting on Twitter to a recent post by James Milner, as the Reds midfielder looked ahead to Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup meeting with Arsenal.The Merseyside outfit booked their place in the last 16 with a 2-0 victory over Milton Keynes Dons, while the Gunners progressed from the Third Round after thrashing Nottingham Forest 5-0.Wednesday night’s encounter at Anfield will be the first between Liverpool and Arsenal in the EFL Cup since 2009, when the North London side edged to a 2-1 win as goals by Fran Merida and Nicklas Bendtner came either side of an Emiliano Insua strike.Arsenal have not beaten Liverpool since 2015, though, and the Gunners’ last triumph at Anfield came in 2012 after goals by Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla decided the result.Since last losing to the Emirates Stadium outfit, Liverpool have won five of the nine meetings between the two clubs, in which they have scored 26 goals to Arsenal’s 13.Milner has looked ahead to Wednesday night’s encounter by posting a short message to Twitter.”Another game, another competition. Same focus at Anfield tomorrow,” the £140,000-per-week midfielder noted.
Liverpool enter the game as the Premier League leaders on 28 points, 12 more than Arsenal have secured.
